Which duties apply to your workplace?

These are the duties the Central Rules 2026 place on employers, with the sections of the Codes behind them, and the provident fund duties in the Schemes of 2026. The Central Rules apply where the Central Government is the appropriate Government: for example establishments of the Central Government, railways, mines, oil fields, major ports, air transport, telecommunication, banking and insurance companies, and central public sector undertakings, including their contractors. For any other establishment the State Government is the appropriate Government, and its own rules apply s. 2(d).

Some registers count under several Codes. Registers and wage slips kept under the Code on Wages rules are deemed to be maintained under the OSH Rules too rule 72(3), and the employee, attendance and wages registers kept under the Code on Wages or the OSH Code are deemed to be maintained under the Social Security Rules rule 53(1)(a).
