What to do
Provide adequate natural or artificial lighting, or both, wherever employees work or pass, including in emergencies, and automatic emergency lighting where a lighting failure would expose them to risk rule 46.
Who it applies to
The employer of every factory, mine, building or other construction work, industrial premise for manufacture of beedi and cigar, motor transport undertaking, dock work and plantation rule 46.
When
During the time of use rule 46.
How
Building sites also need portable lighting where appropriate, lamps guarded against breakage, and cables strong enough for construction conditions rule 46, second proviso.
