What to do
Provide and maintain a crèche for the use of children under the age of six years of employees, within a kilometre of the establishment, in safe and rain proof premises with at least ten square feet of floor area per child rule 37(1)–(2) s. 67(1).
Who it applies to
Every establishment covered by the maternity benefit Chapter in which fifty or more employees are ordinarily employed rule 37(1).

When
All the time; allow each woman four visits a day, including her rest intervals s. 67(1), proviso.
How
Put the crèche in the charge of a woman with midwifery qualification or crèche-attendant training, with an ayah for every ten children beyond ten rule 37(2).
By agreement with the negotiating union or council, or a majority of employees, a crèche allowance of not less than ₹500 per month per child may be paid where no crèche is provided rule 37(2)(viii).
