Dust, pesticides and chemicals: plantations

What to do
Minimise harmful dust, and give every employee who handles, mixes, blends, sprays or applies pesticides, insecticides, chemicals or toxic substances appropriate protective clothing and personal protective equipment free of charge rule 43(i)–(ii).

When

How
The protective clothing must resist penetration by the chemicals, be washable, and comprise an outer garment with hat, rubber or other impenetrable gloves up to the forearm, dust-proof goggles, rubber boots and reusable cloth masks rule 43(iii).
Do not let any employee enter a workplace or confined space until all practicable measures have removed the noxious smell of pesticides or chemicals and brought their levels within the permissible limits rule 43(iv).
