What to do
Prepare draft standing orders based on the model standing orders, consult the Trade Unions or negotiating union or council, and send the draft to the certifying officer for certification s. 30(1)–(2). In the checklist: Standing orders.
When
The Code required the draft within six months from its commencement s. 30(1); until standing orders are certified, the model standing orders are deemed adopted s. 29(2).
How
Send the draft with a statement of the establishment’s details and the strength and details of the workers employed, including the Trade Unions they belong to rule 13(1).
If the certifying officer makes no observation within thirty days of being told that the model standing orders have been adopted, they are deemed certified rule 10.
