Rule 55. Responsibility of Payment of wages

Official text

(1) The contractor shall fix the wage periods in respect of which wages shall be payable and no wage period shall exceed one month.
(2) The wages of every person employed as contract labour in an establishment or by a contractor shall be paid in accordance with Code on Wages 2019 and rules made thereunder.
(3) The contractor when it is not practicable to pay wages as prescribed in sub section (2) of Section 55 of the Code can pay wages directly to the employee.
