Rule 115. Types of Hospitals

There shall be two types of hospitals in plantations, namely, garden Hospitals and group Hospitals.

(1) Garden Hospital will deal with out-patients, in-patients not requiring any elaborate diagnosis and treatment, infectious cases, midwifery, simple pre-natal and post-natal care, care of infants and children and periodical inspection of workers.

(2) Group Hospitals shall be capable of dealing efficiently with all types of cases normally encountered but shall not be used for routine treatment. Admission to the Group Hospital shall only be on the recommendation of the Garden Hospital Doctors except in the case of emergency.

Provided that Group Hospitals may serve as Garden Hospitals for the plantations in which they are situated if there are no separate Garden Hospitals in these plantations.
