Rule 61. Payment of funeral expenses

If the injury to employee results in death, the employer shall in addition to the compensation to be deposited under the Code with the Competent Authority, pay a sum of twenty five thousand rupees to the eldest surviving dependent of the employee towards the expenditure of the funeral of such employee, or where the employee does not have dependents or was not living with his dependent at the time of his death, then in such a case the said payment towards funeral expenses shall be made to the person who actually incurred such expenditure:

Provided that if the Central Government by notification enhances the amount specified in the sub-section (7) of section 76, the amount to be deposited under this rule shall be automatically enhanced.
