of 47. The appointment of enquiry officer shall be made by State Government through separate order. of 48. (1) Any accused person seeks compounding of an offence under sub-section (1) of section 56 may and make an application in Form Viii, electronically or otherwise, to the officer notified under the said sub-section (I).

(2) The officer notified under sub-rule (1) shall, on receipt of such application, ascertain whether the offence is compoundable under the Code and, if so, may compound the offence with a sum not exceeding fifty per cent of the maximum penalty provided for such offence under the Code. The notified officer may also examine the application for compounding of the offence.
