For employers

What must an employer do under the sexual harassment law?

  • Provide a safe working environment, display the penal consequences and the order setting up the Internal Committee, and run awareness workshops s. 19(a)–(c).
  • Treat sexual harassment as misconduct and act on it s. 19(i).
  • Include the number of cases and their disposal in your annual report s. 22.
  • Failing to set up the Committee or to act can bring a fine of up to fifty thousand rupees s. 26(1).

This comes from the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, not the Labour Codes. Rules made under it may add detail, and this library does not hold them.
