Do I get national and festival holidays?
- The Codes do not fix a list of national or festival holidays. Under the model standing orders, a list of them must be displayed order 5(2).
- Other holidays follow the law, contract, custom and usage that apply to you order 11(1). State laws may set them.
Which States have notified rules
The model standing orders are for industrial establishments with three hundred or more workers (IR Code s. 28(1)), and your employer's certified standing orders may differ. Elsewhere, check your appointment letter, and see what applies at a smaller workplace.
The citations are to the service sector's model. These points read the same for manufacturing (order 5, order 10) and mining (order 5, order 10).
