Who is responsible for contract workers' wages?

  • If the contractor pays you late or short, the principal employer must pay you the full amount or the balance s. 55(3).
  • Under the Central Rules, the principal employer must pay within fifteen days rule 98(8).
  • You, your registered trade union or an Inspector-cum-Facilitator can also file a claim under the Code on Wages, within three years s. 45(4), (6).

Where this uses the Central Rules, your State's Rules may differ: see your State.
